Note: Our notary public will not act as both the notary and a witness on estate planning documents such as Powers of Attorney, Advance Medical Directives, or Trust documents—even though Maryland law allows it. As a best practice, The Signature Pros does not notarize and witness these types of documents simultaneously. For other types of documents, the notary may serve as a witness as long as they are no notarizing their own signature. If your document requires a witness and the notary is unavailable to serve in that role, you may hire one of our professional witnesses to assist.
